M3 originally added the land plane to the lineup for driveway work. The same pass that knocks down high spots and fills low spots on a fresh driveway surface also smooths rough fields, old fence row bumps, and rutted pasture in a single pass.
A rough field fights you every time you try to maintain it — fence row bumps catch the mower, ruts hold water, and uneven ground makes baling, mowing, and equipment access harder than it needs to be. The land plane removes the bumps, fills the ruts, and leaves a field that is easier and cheaper to maintain.
